Saws and powerdrills echo through the Robert Sandine Theater as students put the finishing touches on the set. The sound of student voices singing spills out of an art studio, while across the hall another group of students rehearses dance steps.
Foote's Summer Theater Program is gearing up its production of the hit musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which runs from July 29-August 3 in the Robert Sandine Theater.
This is the 36th year of Foote's Summer Theater Program and it's bigger than ever. Fifty-eight students are collaborating to create a wonderful performance of the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical, Jospeh and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Julian Schlusberg, Foote's Drama chair, has directed the program for all of its 36 years. He's produced this musical before—in 1995. more than 20 years ago!
"Our 20-member technical crew has built a magnificent set and costumes, and the performers have been working hard on their acting, singing and dancing," says Julian. "The show promises to be quite extraordinary! Please try to see this exciting, family-oriented musical that is not only wildly entertaining, but teaches important lessons about courage, resilience, forgiveness, and the importance of family.
